Don't leave.

Drift away now
And the distant memory of you
Will simply wash over like a momentary fret
Salt intermingled with the cold musk air
At the merging of stinging sand and sea.

Don't go.

One glimpse-
And then
I will never really be certain again if
I have truly seen you
And beheld your wonder;
Glossed Aphrodite foam
Starfish delicacy and
Pebble dashed
Poseidon velocity of impeccable vengeance.

Stay.

Like a conch shell,
Regal in all its tissue majesty
Eternal
Bleeding hearts of lemon
Cracked and raw in all its scarlet glory;
Zealous endeavourer,
Spontaneous combustion
A paper flower
Palpable
Unflappable.

Please stay.

All I want to ask...
But who can stop the movement of the waves?
Inevitable as the passing of the learned scholar's lips,
Aurora's dawn soon fades to dusk
And these icy waters; they submerge you now
Allow me one last tender moment.

My Atlantis.
Don't forget me.

I really like this piece, maybe because of personal history, but it really spoke to me. I liked the last main stanza perhaps the most.

Mostly it has to do with a relationship that ended with me. Also, i'm always very interested in pieces that deal with memory. I just really related to the idea of moving away from something and yet wanting to hold onto it, an internal conflict, and the kind of surreal aftermath of someone or something leaving. It's almost dream/nightmare like. And the last stanza really struck me because the image of a face submerging under waves and slowly disappearing into the darkness really hit me. If you want anything more as far as why I like it, just tell me and I'll try to tell you...but, as always, conveying emotion and memories is kind of hard.

It's really just an amazing piece, and it really spoke to me. Thank you for writing it.

No, not at all. :blushes: Thank you for taking the time to read it and give me feedback. :aww:

Also, the experience of something/someone leaving and wanting to retain their memory is something that I feel has affected me in my style of writing. However, I hope that it comes across as something not too forceful and that sensitivity can be shown in those pieces.

Thanks again. :thanks:
